Our members experiments plants have all been planted out now and are enjoying all of the hot weather! ☀

In our display bed of plants with novel uses, the flax is producing a multitude of blue flowers, and our dye plants, #weld, #woad, #coreopsis and #madder are all thriving.

The #tomatillos are flowering and starting to produce fruits too.

The Blooms for Bees #dahlias have now started flowering. The purple variety flowered first, followed by red and then white.

We were joined this week by our Coventry Master Composters, delivered in partnership with Coventry City Council for an evening of DIY Wormeries.

Our group set to work making their very own wormery and were delighted with the results!

We think worms are a fantastic little army to help with your worm composting, creating a dark, crumbly compost, from your kitchen and garden waste!

Build up your soil with organic matter (compost, garden waste) which will help the soil structure to retain moisture. Especially if you have light sandy soil.

It was great to see family carers enjoying the beautiful surroundings at Ryton Organic Gardens last week as part of our Thyme To Be project.

Our group enjoyed harvesting salad which they had sown and loved making their very own organic bath bombs!

It's that exciting time of year when seed starts ripening thick and fast 🙂 Below are the first few umbels of Manchester Table carrot seed ready to harvest in the tunnel.

We've just harvested the tree onions - they're drying nicely in the barn, and we've got a few of the earliest ones packed up now.

We found lots of little baby lizards while we were clearing up in front of the tunnel - they move very fast, but one stayed still long enough for a photo.

Some of the flowers we've got growing amongst the vegetables on our fields at the moment - great for the bees, and some of them are edible too.

Everything is growing so fast right now. The edible lupin 'dieta' has set loads of pods. The seeds of this special variety are hopefully non-bitter and are cooked or pickled as 'altramuz'; a high yielding, fast-growing, nitrogen-fixing food crop. ... See more
